Lakyn & Chris Wedding
10.12.2019 | The Barn on the New River
Lakyn and Chris’s wedding holds a special place in our story, because back in 2019, we weren’t doing weddings at all. We were still a home and gifts boutique, but Lakyn and her mom, Wanda, a longtime family friend, trusted us to help bring Lakyn’s vision to life with the florals and decorating for her big day. That trust meant more to us than they probably knew at the time.
Lakyn had her heart set on a rustic fall look, so we mixed faux flowers with dried stems for her bridal bouquet, the bridesmaid bouquets, and the boutonnieres. The combination gave everything that warm, textured, just-gathered feel she was dreaming of, and it held up beautifully all day long.
The ceremony arch was a blend of fresh and dried florals, with hydrangeas we dried ahead of time to get just the right soft, muted look. The magnolia leaves have a little story of their own. On the way to the venue to set up, Danielle and Dena passed a magnolia tree and knew right away it would be the perfect finishing touch for the design. Even the pumpkins had a personal connection, since every real pumpkin used in the decor was grown on Chris’s family farm.
Looking back, Lakyn’s wedding was one of the moments that gave us the confidence to start doing weddings years later. Seeing everything come together that day showed us how much we loved helping couples celebrate, and we will always be grateful Lakyn and Wanda believed in us before we ever called ourselves an events business.
